The Boston Red Sox principal owner John Henry flew to the Atlanta area to meet one-on-one with Jon Lester on Friday. Henry and other Red Sox leadership had already met with him during the free agency process. Even after the big-money signings of Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval, the Red Sox are still looking to bring Lester back to Boston. The Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers are believed to be the two other teams near the top of the list.

The MLB.com’s 13th annual GIBBY’s were handed out on Saturday, and the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw continued his dominance of postseason awards. He earned Baseball’s Most Valuable Major Leaguer as well as Starting Pitcher of the Year. He added the Pitching Performance of the Year with his no-hitter. The GIBBYS are unique in that they run all the way through the playoffs to the end of the season. They don’t simply end with the regular season, highlighting the best of the best.

The Golden Era Committee will meet to decide the first phase of the 2015 Hall of Fame class on Monday. The committee, which chooses from players between 1947-1972 whose careers were prominent–will be inducted in with those recently elected by the Baseball Writer’s Association ballot during Hall of Fame Weekend. The candidates need to earn 12 of the 16 votes to gain entrance in through the Golden Era Committee. When the committee met most recently in 2011, the Cubs’ Ron Santo was elected to the Hall.
