Down on the Farm: Kris Bryant homers again, 3 walk-off wins

Kris Bryant hit an opposite field solo home run in the eight for his 39th of the year and 17th with Iowa, who fell in the ninth in Felix Doubront‘s Cubs debut. The Daytona Cubs, Kane County Cougars, and Boise Hawks all won on a walk-off Tuesday in the Chicago Cubs minor league action.

Iowa Cubs
Las Vegas 51s (Mets) 6, Iowa 5

Doubront allowed three runs on four hits over four innings in his Cubs debut. He struck out seven and walked two.

Marcus Hatley gave up one run on there hits, striking out one and intentionally walking one for the loss in the ninth.

Bryant hit a solo shot in the eight for his 39th of the year, he went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Rafael Lopez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk with a run scored.

The Omaha Storm Chasers lost to the Salt Lake City Bees for Iowa to hold a one-game lead.

Tennessee Smokies
Huntsville Stars (Brewers) 5, Tennessee 2

Felix Peña lasted only 4 1/3 innings and allowed three runs all in the fifth on four hit. Peña struck out five and walked four.

Jae-Hoon Ha was 2-for-4 with a double while Addison Russell was 1-for-3 with a walk, stolen base, and a run scored.

With a win by Chattanooga the Smokies remain in a three-way tie with them and Huntsville.

Daytona Cubs
Brevard County Manatees (Brewers) 5, Daytona 1
Daytona 3, Brevard County 2

Daytona split a double-header with Brevard County with a walk-off win in the second one.

Juan Paniagua struggled and allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits over just 3 2/3 innings. Paniagua gave up a two-run homer and struck out three and walked three.

Jacob Hannemann was 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the third to score Gioskar Amaya, who was 2-for-3.

Second Game
Chad Krist walked to lead off the seventh and scored on Bijan Rademacher‘s single. Krist would score the winning run when Manatees’ pitcher threw away Amaya’s sacrifice bunt.

Krist was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI while Rademacher went 2-for-3 with a double and Amaya was held hitless in two at-bats. Dan Vogelbach was 2-for-3.

Tayler Scott allowed two runs on five hits over the first six innings. He struck out five and walked two. Yao-Lin Wang earned the win with one strikeout in a perfect ninth inning as Daytona holds a 3 1/2 lead over Tampa Bay.

Kane County Cougars
Kane County 4, Quad Cities River Bandits (Astros) 3

Jen-Ho Tseng held Quad Cities hitless until one out in the fifth. He allowed two runs on three this and three walks with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.

David Garner earned the win with a perfect ninth.

Danny Lockhart singled in Jeimer Candelario, who reached on an error, in the bottom of the ninth for Kane County’s walk-off win. Lockhart was 1-for-5 with a stolen base while Candelario was 1-for-4 with a triple in the fourth.

Jacob Rogers hit a two-run homer for his 14th of the season and was 1-for-4. Jeffery Baez was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk while Shawon Dunston was 2-for-5 with two stolen bases.

Boise Hawks
Boise 9, Eugene Emeralds (Padres) 8 in 10 innings

Sam Wilson blew a save opportunity in the ninth, but stayed in the game to get the win after Charcer Burks hit a walk-off single to score Bryant Flete in the bottom of the tenth.

Burks was 2-for-5 with a walk and a run scored. Flete was 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI.

Trevor Clifton gave up five runs, two unearned, on five hits in only 1 2/3 innings. Clifton walked two and struck two with two wild pitches.

Yomar Morel allowed a solo homer in the third for his only run. Morel allowed there hits and struck out one and walked none.

Rashad Crawford was 2-for-5 with a double, a walk, run scored, and an RBI. Danny Canela and Jesse Hodges were both 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored.
