Javier Baez will make his Wrigley Field debut in the three-game series opener between the Chicago Cubs and the Tampa Bay Rays Friday at 3:05 p.m. CT on WGN.

The last time Tampa Bay visited Wrigley was in 2003 when they were still named the ‘Devil Rays’ and Lou Piniella was in his first season managing his hometown club.

Anthony Rizzo returns to the Cubs lineup and John Baker will call the pitches behind the plate for Tsuyoshi Wada (1-1). Ryan Sweeney will bat seventh before Baker and play right field. Wada, 33, will make his five big-league start and look for his second career win. Wada has allowed three runs in his last two outings, including one run over seven innings for his first major league win.

Chris Archer (7-6) went 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA in his first four starts on the road and will bat eighth. He has posted a 2.88 ERA and 1.209 WHIP in 11 starts and has never faced the Cubs or anyone on the current roster.
