Down on the Farm: Kris Bryant, Jorge Soler, Addison Russell homer

The Iowa Cubs hit four home runs, including one from Kris Bryant and Jorge Soler. Charlie White came in from the outfield to pitch three scoreless innings in a Boise comeback win while Kane County snapped a rare losing streak and the Tennessee Smokies won on a walk off in the Chicago Cubs minor league action Friday.

Iowa Cubs
Iowa 9, New Orleans Zephrys (Marlins) 2

Iowa hit four home runs as they crushed the Zephrys 9-2.

Carlos Pimentel allowed one run, a solo home run, on four hits over six innings. Kyuji Fujikawa pitched a perfect seventh inning.

Josh Vitters hit a two-run homer, his 10th of the year, to break a scoreless tie in the second. Soler followed with a two-run shot of his own in the third to right field. Soler was 1-for-5 and scored twice.

Eli Whiteside solo blast came in the fifth, his fifth of the year. He also doubled to go 2-for-4.

Bryant hit his 36th homer this season, 14th with Iowa, with a man on in the ninth. He was 1-for-4 and was hit by a pitch while scoring three runs. Matt Szczur also went 2-for-5 with a double, a stolen base, and a run scored.

Tennessee Smokies
Smokies 2, Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Reds) in the 10th

Christian Villanueva singled in Alberet Almora in the bottom of the tenth as the Smokies won 2-1 in extras.

Corey Black exhibited control, he allowed one run on five hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked two. Frank Batista earned his third win in the tenth after striking out two and one hit.

Russell opened the scoring in the first with his eighth home run of the season and seventh with the Smokies. It was Russell’s only hit on the night, he went 1-for-5.

Almora was 2-for-5, Villanueva 1-for-5, and Lars Anderson 3-for-5.

Daytona Cubs
Charlotte Stone Crabs (Rays) 7, Daytona 0

Jose Rosario allowed four runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking three over five innings as the Stone Crabs cruised to a 7-0 win.

The Stone Crabs scored on three singles, a triple, and a walk.

Chadd Krist was the only Cub to have two hits in the game, he went 2-for-3.

Kane County
Kane County 6, Quad Cities River Bandits (Astros) 2

Kane County scored six runs in the sixth sparked by a River Bandits error.

Tyler Ihrig allowed two runs on four hits over 5 1/3 innings for his first Kane County win. He struck out six and walked two.

Jeffrey Baez went 2-for-4 and scored a run, Chesny Young 2-for-5, and Trey Marin was 2-for-4 with a two-run single and a run scored.

Boise Hawks
Boise 11, Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays) 10 in 11 innings

Down 9-2 in the sixth the Hawks scored four runs to close the deficit to 10-6 going into the ninth. Boise manager Gary Van Tol called on outfielder Charlie White to take the mound and he tossed a scoreless ninth.

White doubled, and Rashad Crawford and Justin Marra singled in runs to tie it in the ninth before Danny Lockhart scored the winning run in the bottom of the 11th on a wild pitch.

White allowed three hits, struck out three and walked none over three scoreless innings. He was also 1-for-5 with two RBIs.

Alex Tomasovich 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI while scoring one.

Lockhart was 2-for-6 and scored two runs, Bryant Flete 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, David Bote 2-for-4 with two walks and two runs scored, Mark Malave 2-for-4 and scored twice.
