Down on the Farm: Dan Vogelbach hits 2 HRs, C.J. Edwards rehabs

Dan Vogelbach hit two home runs in a Daytona win and Dae-Eun Rhee and Eduardo Figueroa each picked up their first win as the Chicago Cubs minor league affiliates all earned victories.

Iowa Cubs
Iowa 13, New Orleans Zephyrs (Marlins) 4

Dae-Eun Rhee allowed only one hit in the first inning and an unearned run over six innings for his first career Triple-A win in a 13-4 victory.

Rhee struck out three and walked two.

Lars Anderson was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the seventh, his fourth of the season, and scored twice. After the game, Anderson was optioned to Double-A Tennessee to make room for Mike Olt at first base.

Javier Baez was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks while scoring three runs and knocking in two runs. Baez also made two errors at second base.

Ryan Kalish was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs and Matt Szczur went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Tennessee Smokies
Tennessee 6, Mississippi Braves 3

Eduardo Figueroa allowed one run over five innings to guide the Smokies to a 6-3 win and his first victory with the Smokies this season.

Figueroa struck out one and walked two.

Zach Cates walked the leadoff batter in the ninth then pitched a perfect ninth and struck out one for his second save of the season and first with the Smokies.

Christian Villanueva went 2-for-5 with a two-run double in the seventh and Stephen Bruno was also 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI and a run scored.

Daytona Cubs
Daytona 6, Palm Beach Cardinals 2

Dan Vogelbach hit his 10th and 11th home runs this season, and Rob Zastryzny pitched six scoreless innings in a 6-2 Daytona win.

Zastryzny allowed three hits, striking out three and walking three.

Vogelbach hit solo homers in the second and third innings for his only hits on the day. Gioskar Amaya was 2-for-5.

Kane County Cougars
Kane County 5, South Bend Silver Hawks (Diamondbacks) 2

Duane Underwood allowed two solo home runs, but the Cougars never trailed as they used small ball with three RBI singles for a 5-2 win.

Underwood’s two runs came on three hits, and he struck out seven and walked two over five innings.

Kevin Brown and Jeimer Candelario each hit a RBI single with Brown going 3-for-4 two RBIs. Cael Brockmeyer hit two doubles and was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Boise Hawks
The Hawks were rained out in Everett and play the AquaSox Thursday night before a double-header Friday.

AZL Cubs
C.J. Edwards allowed one hit and struck out two in a rehab start.
