Chicago Cubs call up right-hander Blake Parker from Iowa

The Chicago Cubs have recalled right-hander Blake Parker from Triple-A Iowa, according to a press release from the organization’s minor league affiliate.

"This will be Parker’s third stint with Chicago this season.  Parker has no record and a 1.44 ERA (4 ER/25 IP) in 25 appearances with the I-Cubs this season and leads the PCL with 18 saves.  Parker is Iowa’s all-time saves leader with 59.  In his first two stints with Chicago, Parker allowed three runs in 2.2 innings in three appearances."

Parker will join the team prior to beginning the series against Cincinnati on Monday. He joins the likes of Justin Grimm, Neil Ramirez, Hector Rondon, Brian Schlitter and Pedro Strop as right-handers in Ricky Renteria’s bullpen. Lefties include James RussellWesley Wright and Chris Rusin – who could also factor into the starting rotation.
