For the second straight week and third time this season, Chicago Cubs prospect Kris Bryant was named the Southern League player of the week for June 2-8.

It is the third straight week a Cubs’ prospect has took the honor, as Javier Baez earned Triple-A honors for the Iowa Cubs.

Bryant, 22, batted .417 (10-for-24) with seven runs, three doubles, three home runs, five RBIs and six walks for Double-A Tennessee. He leads all Southern Leaguers in sluggin percentage (.917), OPS (1.450), and total bases (22) in that stretch, while being tied for first in runs scored, extra-base hits (six) and on-base percentage.

The second overall pick in last year’s draft, leads the Southern League in 10 categories, including all three Triple Crown categories. He also leads all Minor Leaguers in extra-base hits (39) and total bases (161) as well as tied for first in homers, second in slugging percentage (.716), tied for third in runs, and fourth in batting average, RBI and on-base percentage.
