The Chicago Cubs seek to keep Ian Kennedy winless and take three of four against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park on Sunday afternoon.

Jason Hammel (5-2, 2.91 ERA) takes the mound for the Cubs and will be opposed by Kennedy. Hammel is coming off a strong start against the New York Yankees when he struck out six, walked one and allowed only one run over 5 2/3 innings. Only once this season has he given up more than three runs and walked more than two.

Hammel pitched against the Padres often during his time with the Rockies, but as not faced them since July of 2011. Chase Headley (7-for-23) and Everth Cabrerea (5-for-18) have the most at-bats for the Padres against him.

Mike Olt will play third and Luis Valbuena will man second base against the right-hander Kennedy while Darwin Barney has the night off.
