Chicago Cubs prospect Pierce Johnson will join Jorge Soler on the disabled list with a strained left calf injury, tweets Double-A Tennessee broadcaster Mick Gillispie.

Johnson began the season on the disabled list after dealing with hamstring tightness during Spring Training. He left Monday’s start after four innings and 47 pitches then was placed on the 7-day DL Thursday afternoon.

Johnson, 23, is 1-1 in five starts with a 4.39 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over 26 2/3 innings. He has struck out 22 and walked 24 with 14 walks coming in two starts.

The right-hander joins Soler and other pitching prospects C.J. Edwards and Ivan Pineyro on the disabled list. Johnson was drafted by the Cubs in the first round with the 43rd overall pick of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. He is currently listed as the Cubs’ No. 6 prospect.
