Cubs manager Rick Renteria was the bench coach for the Padres the past two season and still resides in San Diego during the offseason. It will be his first appearance in the visitor’s clubhouse.

Cubs’ pitcher Jason Hammel will make his start Sunday after he took a ball off his pitching wrist Tuesday night. Hammel stayed in the game through 5 2/3 innings for the win over the Yankees.

Who’s hot: Edwin Jackson has allowed just four earned runs over his last 20 innings. Mike Olt has driven in four runs not on home runs while his nine home runs and 24 RBIs lead the team. Outfielder Junior Lake went 7-for-19 during the Cubs recent homestand. The Padres rank second in the National League with a 3.14 ERA while their closer Huston Street has allowed one run in 18 innings.
