Darwin Barney and Junior Lake both hit home runs, but it was not enough to give Jeff Samardzija his first win as the Chicago Cubs fell 5-4 to the Brewers in the series opener.

While the Cubs are focusing on the product on the field, the organization is also working on fixing the errors made to the murals pained on the Wrigley Field brick walls on Waveland street. In the murals were painted to reflect 100 years at Wrigley, but a photo that was actually taken at old Comiskey and a historical inaccuracy on the photo of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt have surfaced.

Around the league: Rangers’ Yu Darvish took a no-hit bid until the fifth and struck out 11, but he was out duel by Blue Jays’ Drew Hutchinson, Dodgers’ Zac Greinke became the first National League pitcher to reach seven wins this season, Rays signed infielder Jayson Nix to a minor league deal, and former Braves’ star Julio Franco will play Independent ball at age 55.
