The Chicago Cubs fell 7-1 to the San Diego Padres on Monday night while their shortstop Starlin Castro returned from a right hamstring strain in a minor league game.

Around the league, the Chicago White Sox and Jose Quintana agreed to a $21 million, five-year contract and the Atlanta Braves released Freddy Garcia only to sign veteran right-hander Aaron Harang.
