The Chicago Cubs hit four home runs including Donnie’s Murphy‘s two-run home run to highlight a four-run seventh inning to lift them to a 9-7 victory over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Murphy hit his home run to left field on the first pitch from reliever Ryan Webb. It was Murphy’s ninth home run of the season.

Murphy’s home run followed a two-run single by Dioner Navarro off reliever A.J. Ramos. Starlin Castro added a RBI double down the right field line in the eighth inning to score Brian Bogusevic from first.

Adeiny Hechavarria‘s grand slam off Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija (8-11, 4.29 ERA) had given Miami a 6-4 lead in the sixth inning after trailing 3-2 in the third.

Logan Morrison hit a two-run home run in the second inning for a 2-0 Marlins lead.

The Cubs responded with a run in the bottom of the second with doubles by Junior Lake and Darnell McDonald off Marlins starter Brian Flynn (0-0, 6.75 ERA), who made his major league debut.

Castro and Navarro hit a pair of solo home runs for a 3-2 Cubs lead in the third inning.

Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Ruggiano singled, and Morrison walked before Samardzija gave up Hechavarria’s slam in the sixth inning.

Ryan Sweeny hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth off Marlins reliever Arquimedes Caminero to cut the Cubs’ deficit to 6-4 before Navarro’s throwing error in the seventh gave the Marlins a 7-4 lead.

Flynn went four innings, gave up six hits and three earned runs, struck out two and walked three. Samardzija allowed nine hits and six earned runs, struck out nine and walked two in six innings.
