The minor league season is officially underway!

The minor league seasons kicked off last night, and in their respective openers every full season league Cubs affiliate won… except Peoria. The Chief’s game was suspended after eight innings, tied at two.

An in depth look at the roster for each of these teams will be coming next week along with our regular weekly coverage of all the minor league games. On Monday we’ll have a recap of the previous week and a look ahead to what fans can enjoy in the upcoming week. Then on Wednesday we will debut our Minor League Line of the Week award. The Tennessee offense is an early favorite to claim the first week’s honor after a very balanced attack led to twelve runs on seventeen hits in their first game.

There is a lot of talent up and down the Cubs’ minor league system, and if you happen to catch a game any time this year, be sure to tell us about it in the comments. We can learn a lot by looking at the stats, but nothing beats a first hand account of seeing the Cubs prospects in action. That’s where you come in. If you see a Cubs farm team play this season at any level, feel free to give us your best scouting report.

Likewise, if you should see any of the top high school or college prospects play this spring, tell us about that too. The draft is coming, and before you know it we’ll be trying to figure out who the Cubs might pick.
