A Little Taste of Spring Training

My fellow Fansided.com blogger, Scott of Raising Zona and the new D-Backs site Venom Strikes, was kind enough to pass along a few pics he took at HoHoKam Park in Mesa during the Cubs‘ win over the A’s on Tuesday.  Ah, green grass.  I’d forgotten what it looked like…

Sean Marshall started and pitched three for the win.  Will he be the 5th starter when the season kicks off?  And how long will he remain the 5th starter with guys like Curt Schilling and Jake Peavy out there…

Bobby Dernier signing some autographs.  Now there was a lead-off man.  Alfonso Soriano?  Not so much…

A peek through the chainlink and into the Cubs’ bullpen.  Speaking of the bullpen…aging lefty Mike Stanton didn’t do himself any favors yesterday in his quest to catch on with the Cubs, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in 1 inning of work.  I always like the idea of having a wily left-hander coming out of the pen, but Stanton might just be through.
